The purpose of the visit was cooperation in the field of security and defence between the two ministries and forces, as well as the intensification of relations in the future. Deputy Defence Minister Musaraj after thanking her counterpart Gashi for the visit to Tirana, said: “Between Albania and Kosovo there is a strong basis, since cooperation in the field of defence, support to NATO integration processes, as well as KSF structuring and Kosovo’s defence system, in general, are a very good starting base. It is a structured cooperation, and today, thanks to interactions, we have common structures that aim authentic tasks in achieving the objectives set out in the framework of this cooperation.

In addition, Deputy Minister Musaraj, while talking about cooperation plan for 2013, emphasized that, this plan is designed with detailed areas and it is a very ambitious plan, and I wish to be able to carry out all the activities and elements it includes. “Albania’s challenge is to assist KSF in all processes, starting with structuring and capacity building, enhancement of professional skills and membership”. Mrs. Musaraj underlined the fact that, this year should be quite intense and we must be very attentive on every detail we have decided at the interaction and cooperation plan for 2013.
Regarding cooperation in the field of civil emergencies, Deputy Minister Musaraj said: “In this regard, cooperation has been very successful and proven. In the future, cooperation regarding civil emergencies should be a sign of maturity and interaction in accordance to our respective units, to fulfil this mission successfully.”

For his part, Deputy Minister of KFS, Mr. Bejtush Gashi, thanked Deputy Minister Musaraj for the hospitality and praised the great support Albania has given and gives to KSF. He stated that, in order to create opportunities for cooperation and interaction between both countries, we have some ambitious projects and I hope they will be implemented in the future. In the context of a new cooperation philosophy in the defence field, since cooperation at the Alliance level, where Albania is already a members and where we aim to be part, have created the opportunity to prepare bilateral plans. In this regard, there are good opportunities and at the same time, a good chance to reduce expenses is created, not against the quality, but in the interest of growth. This will make our way toward integration easier. KSF restructuring is not an easy process, since the cost of investments, which will be needed to fulfil project structuring, will be very costly, especially in some areas, where until now there have been investments. Deputy Minister Gashi also assessed the support given by Albania to Kosovo in the field of education, training of KSF’s officers and military personnel, as well as in other fields.
