Afghanistan, ISAF Operations led by NATO

In July 2002, the first contingent of the Armed Forces became part of the coalition forces against terrorism in ISAF operation in Kabul and continued to gradually increase the representation and diversity of the engagement in tasks, almost in all the Regional Commands in Afghanistan, such as in Herat (West), Mazar-e Sharif (North), ISAF Headquarters in Kabul, NATO Training Mission in Kabul and Herat, OMLT teams in Kabul, Special Forces in Kandahar (South) and the Special Forces Trainers in Wardak (East). So far, 2944 military personnel have participated in this operation.
More precisely, according the region and parties with which we cooperate in this operation, as follows:

Kabul (in cooperation with the Turkish side)
Contingents were composed of a platoon with 22 people and they were part of the Special Forces Battalion, Rapid Reaction Brigade, as well as units of Land Force Command.
Until the 18th of October 2012, when this commitment was concluded, the AAF has engaged in mission to Kabul, acting as part of the Turkish Armed Forces contingent, 440 military personnel.

Bosnia - Herzegovina

On 09 September 1996, the first contingent of the Armed Force was engaged in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in accordance with the law Nr. 8139, dated 05.09.1996 of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania. The agreement for peacekeeping missions was signed in the Republic of Croatia, between Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Albania and Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Armed Forces have participated in this country with the following missions:

-  09 September-December 1996, in the framework of the NATO operation, IFOR (Implementation Force).
-  January 1997-November 2004, in the framework the NATO operation, SFOR (Stabilization Force).
-  November 2004-December 2007, at the same time when the mission was successfully completed in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as part of operation ALTHEA, led by the European Union.
-  April 2008, the Armed Forces in the framework of operation ALTHEA, led by the European Union, have sent to Bosnia-Herzegovina, a group of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) with 13 military (of which, one representative at the EUFOR headquarters), from the Support Command and Logistic Brigade, engaged in operational tasks, in the interest of the operation ALTHEA and EUFOR Staff.

Kosovo

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania are currently engaged in Kosovo:

  - KFOR HQ in Pristine, Kosovo, with 10 military, from July 2009.
  - NAT, HQ, in Pristine, Kosovo, with 2 military, from July 2009.

The Armed Forces contribution in Kosovo is a total of 32 military personnel.

SEEBRIG

SEEBRIG HQ is currently located in Larissa, Greece, from July 2011, where the Albanian Armed Forces are represented by an officer.
For 2003-2009, the Armed Forces are represented by two military.
Meanwhile during the period 2003-2011, the Armed Forces are represented by 13 military personnel. During the period July 2009-July 2011, the brigade commander’s office was held by Brigadier General Zyber Dushku, currently Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania.
