With transition of AAF to an entirely professional volunteer force, it is essential that the recruited personnel must have the highest qualities to serve in the Armed Forces.
Recruitment of professional soldiers for missions and other challenges that our Armed Forces will face, are done preserving and developing the balances between the request for as young as possible middle age in our Armed Forces and the need to concentrate as long as possible than up to now in the military service; reasonable reports between operational forces and those supportive ones; between staff structures with the troop in order to choose as effectively as possible the applied contingencies serving in our Armed Forces. The professional military personnel that are women in the Armed Forces should be up to 15 % of the general number and for every structure one by one, in the function of the mission and tasks according to the required operational levels.
The choice of most adaptable elements will be made based on the tests of health conditions, physical and intellectual abilities according to the standards and procedures defined for this purpose.
The service contract for professional soldiers is the responsibility of the institution of the Armed Forces, represented from respective command levels.

Read more...Upon entry into the Armed Forces, you gain a new social status, a guaranteed work, professional training, foreign language courses, career opportunities, free health treatment for you and your family, 45 days of holiday annually and a satisfactory salary. Benefits extend to the right of compensation with food, housing rent or credit with favorable conditions, holidays in the Officers’ Holiday Houses for two weeks, together with the family against a reasonable fee, etc.
Servicemen and their families benefit free medical assistance in military and civilian medical institutions within the country. Servicemen in reserve, retirement and pension profit a reimbursement of 80% for medications. Servicemen and other family members receive immediate financial assistance in case of serious illness or death.
To begin the process of recruiting, the interested person must meet a set of criteria and documents. Citizens who want to apply for professional soldier should be directed at Recruitment Centers, which are located at the regional level, where the candidate will undergo physical and intellectual test, as well as interview. Necessary documents, like Application Form for professional soldiers (link) and the Application Questionnaire for both professional soldier, Standards Tests and Physical Preparation are as of year 2011.
 
 

An active duty officer of the Armed Forces is an Albanian citizen who has completed higher military education at the country and abroad, or the Albanian citizen who has completed higher civilian education, and the respective military course, not less than one year at the Military Academy, who swears the military oath, and is commissioned as such by order of the Minister of Defence.
The military ranks for officers in the Armed Forces are classified into low, high, and highest ones.
The commissioning as active duty officer and granting of the first rank to an officer is carried out by order of the Minister of Defence. The rank of second lieutenant is granted to students who complete higher military education in military academies in the country and abroad, equalized to them, and are commissioned as active duty officers. Military ranks from second lieutenant/ensign to colonel/captain are granted by order of the Minister of Defence, under career commissions’ proposals.
The highest ranks are granted to officers by decree of the President of the Republic, and by proposal of the Minister of Defence.

An active NCO of Armed Forces is the Albanian citizen who has completed the high or university education, the respective NCO training, and has sworn the military oath.  
A professional soldier/seaman is the Albanian citizen who has completed high or university education, compulsory active military service, or respective professional course (basic training) and has sworn the military oath.
The military NCO is eligible for next promotion when he/she fulfils the following conditions, time limit of service at a rank, required education and qualification in military and civilian schools and courses, yearly work performance results.
NCOs  aspiring to rise to a higher rank have the right to be considered and evaluated by rank and career commissions for each rank only 1 (one) time.
