Defence Minister Imami decorates two U.S. experts

In the Ministry of Defence took place today a special ceremony on the occasion of decoration with the medal “For Distinguished Services” of Mr. Robin Sakoda and Mr. Jaan Murumets, two U.S. experts who contributed to the drafting process of the Strategic Defence Review. At the ceremony attended Defence Minister, Mr. Arben Imami, Deputy Defence Minister, Mr. Arian Starova and Mrs. Arta Musaraj, Deputy Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Viktor Berdo and Brigadier General Sandër Lleshi, generals, directors and other senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Armed Forces.
Defence Minister Imami met the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Turkey

This morning, Defence Minister, Mr. Arben Imami had a meeting with Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Turkey, General Necdet Özel, who is on an official visit to our country.
Defence Minister Imami addressing to General Necdet Özel said that, I am very happy that you are continuing your visit to the Ministry of Defence and I hope you have liked Tirana. “Relations between our two countries and armies are excellent. Cooperation extends to all areas and I would like to thank you for the particular help you have given in the field of education with technical equipment, but also for our military personnel which operate together in NATO operations, and this is an expression of mutual trust”, - emphasized Minister Imami.
Deputy Defence Minister Arta Musaraj met with Deputy Minister of KSF

Deputy Defence Minister, Prof. Dr. Arta Musaraj received in a special meeting Deputy Minister of Kosovo Security Force (KSF), Mr. Bejtush Gashi and KSF deputy commander, Major General Gëzim Hazrolli. The purpose of the visit was cooperation in the field of security and defence between the two ministries and forces, as well as the intensification of relations in the future. Deputy Defence Minister Musaraj after thanking her counterpart Gashi for the visit to Tirana, said: “Between Albania and Kosovo there is a strong basis, since cooperation in the field of defence, support to NATO integration processes, as well as KSF structuring and Kosovo’s defence system, in general, are a very good starting base. It is a structured cooperation, and today, thanks to interactions, we have common structures that aim authentic tasks in achieving the objectives set out in the framework of this cooperation.
7th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Defence Conference held in Tirana

At the “Tirana International” hotel started today the proceedings of 7th conference of the Chiefs of Defence Initiative of the Balkan countries. In this conference participate the Chiefs of Defence (CHODs) of the Armed Forces of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey and Romania. With the guest status are attending Chiefs of Defence of Croatia and Slovenia, as well as senior military representative of NATO and European Union. In this conference also attended the President of the Republic and General Commander of the Armed Forces, Mr. Bujar Nishani and Defence Minister, Mr. Arben Imami.
International Museum Day

Based on the annual calendar of art, culture and heritage activities for year 2013, the department of activities and relations with community at the Centre of Culture, Media and Defence Publications, in cooperation with J-9 directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, organized a visit to the premises of the Armed Forces Museum, on the occasion of the “International Museum Day”, proclaimed by the UNESCO General Conference. The purpose of this activity was the revaluation of the museum heritage of the Armed Forces for the management of the AF Museum and importance of this heritage for the cultural and military education of our military personnel.
