The Albanian Defense Minister, Mr. Gazmend Oketa participated in the first meeting of the Defense Ministers of NATO countries, after the Summit of Strasbourg-Kehlit, indicating in this way the official representation of Albania in the North Atlantic Alliance. The main objective of the discussions in these meetings has been the engagement in Afghanistan and Kosovo. Taking into consideration the improvement of the security situation in Kosovo, the Defense Ministers of the member countries agreed in Brussels to begin a gradual withdrawal of KFOR troops. The Defense Ministers appreciated the development of the security situation in Kosovo,so the withdrawal of the troops comes as a result of the improved situation there.

Minister of Defense Mr. Gazmend Oketa takes part in a formal meeting of the Defense Ministers of the NATO member countries that is held in Brussels. The North Atlantic Council will organize a meeting of the Defense Ministers during 11-12 June. This meeting will be followed on the same day by another meeting of the same level by the North Atlantic Council, Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, Nuclear Planning Group and Defense Planning Committee.
