The Civil Emergency Committee is constituted, support to the rehabilitation project of Bërdica

Rehabilitation of the damages caused by the outflows of the Drin River in Bërdicë of Shkodra is the first decision of the newly constituted Committee of Civil Emergency. The committee also discussed the situation as a result of recent rainfalls in the country, measures taken, and meteorological expectations.
Defence Minister Niko Peleshigave information about the evacuation of affected families which are carried out on time and so far there is no loss of life. “There have been large inflows and we could keep all the families out of danger. We have no casualties, while material damages have been minimized considerably, compared it to the past”, - said Peleshi.
In his first meeting of this newly constituted committee, the General Director of National Agency for Civil Protection, Haki Çako made an overview of the current situation, where despite of heavy rains, he said the situation is under control. Significant inflows from Shkodra lake and Gjadër and Kir rivers have had a major impact on the situation created in recent days by the rainfalls in the north of the country. Good management of Drin River cascade has enabled to keep the situation stable.
Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku stated the good management of cascades in order to control the inflows and outflows level of water. Minister Balluku informed that it has become possible to open all axes, except Thethi, where she asked the Armed Forces for assistance with their heavy vehicles.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi informed that thanks to measures taken on time, all the hydropower plants are in a full function to remove water, meanwhile cleaning and constructing the protective embankments have enabled to keep the rivers under control. Mrs Ekonomi asked for support the Ministry of Defence and the National Agency of Civil Defence to intervene in rehabilitating the damages after the situation caused by the outflows of Drin river in Bërdicë of Shkodra.
Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Prof. Assoc. Bajram Begaj assured that all the operational capacities, as well as some heavy vehicles, have been available to cope with the situation.
Director of IGEWE (IGJEUM) informed that after January 13, it is expected to have an improvement of the atmospheric conditions which will enable the water withdrawal of rivers into their bed.
