Maximal engagement of the Armed Forces in the last 24 hours

The severe situation created in the country, mainly in some areas due to the heavy rainfalls in the last 24 hours, has led to Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania to be engaged at maximum.

The largest concentration of AFs has been and remains in the Vjosa valley, where several families have been evacuated where about 450 Army officers have been engaged in operations. Yesterday, AFs were present in Fushe-Kruje and in Novosel, Fier; where they have enabled the cleansing from mud of the cities, As well as they have assisted with their means to remove most of the water quantity.

Also the AF effectives, from the Bunavi Troop School and the Support Command made possible the strengthening of the Fier-Vlorë railroad embankment. Likewise, the Engineering Batallion effectives successfully completed the operation in assistance to the residents in the Fruit-growing area, New Valias, Kamza municipality, for the unblocking and opening the main canal.

The channel unblocks operation lasted 24 hours. At the same time about 40 military officers participated in laying sandbags on both sides of the embankment of the River Vjosa, in Darëzezë, Fier.

The AF's effectives have provided land and water support to the inhabitants of Darëzezë. After the damage of the bridge a temporary passage is being built , while the transport of the residents has already started through motorboats from one side of the village to the other. In the meanwhile, some people were assisted and later transported with military means away from their homes and in some cases to the health centers.

Throughout their work in the terrain, the Armed Forces have been inspected and congratulated for their engagement by President Meta, Prime Minister Rama, Minister Xhaçka and Chief of General Staff, Brigade General Kollçaku.
