Brigadier General Ilir Xhebexhia the new Commander of the Naval Force, Xhaçka: One of the most skilled serviceman

More than a year passed, and the Naval Force has its new Commander. Brigadier General Ilir Xhebexhia was introduced to the Albanian Fleet by the Minister of Defense Olta Xhaçka and Chief of General Staff of AF, Major General Bajram Begaj.

Minister Xhaçka considered Xhebexhia the right military at the Head of the Naval Force, who will help in the modernization and transformation of this force. “I am delighted that we are finally filling a vacuum in Naval Force Command by giving this force not only a commander, but one of the most talented staff members. I am very sure that General Xhebexhia not only has the training, but also the right vision to set in motion in this force the same process of modernization and professionalization that is already on the right track throughout the Armed Forces.”

“FA is experiencing today the deepest transformation during the last three decades. It’s a transformation that has affected and is affecting any element of the AF, but its main subject has been the investment in human resources, in youngsters, in men and women that today wear the military uniform of the Naval, Land, and Air Force. It is an investment that was done parallel in many directions. Only a few days ago, work began on setting up the new Maritime Surveillance System, while work is also underway to equip modernized Iliria - class ships. It is by these investment that have allowed the Naval Force to successfully carry out some missions which were unimaginable until a few years ago, such as the one in the Aegean Sea.” - stressed Minister Xhaçka.

General Brigadier Ilir Xhebexhia has so far served as Deputy Military Representative of the Republic of Albania in NATO, Resident Defense Attaché in the Kingdom of Belgium and Non-resident in the Republic of France.
