Engagement Policy and evidence of AAF participation in PK missions

The Albanian Armed Forces (AAF) are engaged in different missions at home and abroad due to the political commitments of the Republic of Albania in the framework of NATO, UNO, EU and coalitions against terrorism since 09.09.1996, starting from the first mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The number of AAF troop participants in peacekeeping (PK) missions has increased, as well as the geographical field where these missions are  conducted.

The participation of AAF in PK and military missions derives from:

 - Constitutional Mission of AAF of the Republic of Albania.
 - Specific Legal Act determined for each contribution in PK and military missions.

Contributions in Military Operations of the Republic of Albania led by NATO, UNO, EU, from 1996 - December 2021 are totally 8105 military personnel.


Ongoing Missions

The Armed Forces are currently engaged in PK and Military Missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosova, South Sudan and eFP Latvia, SEEBRIG.


Accomplished Missions

The Armed Albanian Forces have completed PK missions in Iraq, Chad and Georgia, Aegean Sea, in Mali, ISAF and the RSM in Afghanistan.
