Niko Peleshi

Niko Peleshi was born in Korçë, on November 11th, 1970.Niko Peleshi

He graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana and was awarded the title of Electronic Engineer.

In 1989 he completed his secondary education with honors in Korçë, at Raqi Qirinxhi High School.

Peleshi worked for several years in the private business sector in Korçë, and during 2001 - 2004 was the Head of Korça’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In October 2004 he entered politics, as he was appointed Prefect of Korça Region, and stayed in office for one year.

In 2005 he was elected Chairman of Korçë Socialist Party Branch.

In the local elections of February 2007 he was elected Mayor of Korçë and reconfirmed in this office in the 2011 local elections.

He is a Member of the Socialist Party Chairmanship since 2012.

In September 2013, Peleshi was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, and stayed in office until May 2017.

During September 2017 - January 2019 he was Minister of Agriculture.

In the 2017 Parliamentary Elections, he was elected MP in Korça, leading the list of the Socialist Party.

In January 2021 he was appointed Minister of Defense.

Mr. Peleshi is fluent in English, German and Greek.
