Mrs. Blerina Abrazhda holds the office of Defence Deputy Minister since February 12th, 2025.
Blerina Abrazhda is the Deputy Minister of Defence of Albania, a role she assumed in February 2025 following her appointment by the Council of Ministers. In this capacity, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the country’s defense policies and national security framework. With a robust international background in defense, policy, and public service, Abrazhda is committed to modernizing Albania’s defense strategies, strengthening military cooperation with global allies, and enhancing the country’s defense industry and security infrastructure.
Abrazhda’s career reflects a deep dedication to advancing defense capabilities, improving operational readiness, and fostering professional development across the many countries where she has worked. She has collaborated closely with key international organizations, including the Pentagon, NATO, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and others, positioning Albania as a reliable and strategic partner in global security efforts.
In her leadership role at the Ministry of Defence, Abrazhda has been instrumental in driving policy reforms that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of both the Albanian military and its international cooperation efforts. Her leadership style emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and the importance of maintaining a well-equipped, modernized defense force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
Before her appointment as Deputy Minister, Abrazhda served as the Regional Head for Business Development in the Middle East at Lockheed Martin, a prominent American aerospace and defense company. During her tenure, she worked closely with defense organizations, ministries, armed forces, and embassies, significantly contributing to the enhancement of security partnerships and defense capabilities throughout the region.
Abrazhda has also been a trailblazer in advocating for gender diversity in the defense sector, becoming one of the first women to serve as a negotiator in the defense industry within the Middle East. Her efforts have been pivotal in promoting inclusivity and opening doors for women in the defense industry.
Her academic background includes specializations in Tax Law, and two master’s degrees in International Trade and Business Management from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. Abrazhda also gained valuable experience through strategic roles at Leonardo and Mubadala Group, where she led international negotiations and spearheaded key industry initiatives.
Having lived abroad for over 25 years in countries including Italy, the UAE, and the USA, Abrazhda brings a wealth of international experience and global perspectives to her work. Her contributions continue to significantly impact Albania’s position within the international security landscape, earning her recognition both at home and internationally.
Blerina Abrazhda is married and has a daughter, Alexandra.
