International Missions
The Armed Force is committed to different missions at home and abroad due to the political commitments of the Republic of Albania in the framework of NATO, UN, EU and coalitions against terrorism since 1996. The first mission has been the mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The number of AAF troop participants in peacekeeping (PK) missions has increased, as well as the geographical field where these missions are conducted.
Relations with NATO, EU, International and Regional Organization
The invitation to NATO membership (Bucharest Summit in 02 April 2008) and the membership with full rights in Strasbourg & Kehl Summit, 02 April 2009, finalized the pan Albanian effort and aspiration to join NATO. Yet, the Albanian public remains the strongest indicator in supporting the country’s membership in NATO, as well as the participation in NATO led missions outside the region.

NATO has as an important goal the promotion of international security achievable through: Arms Control, Disarmament and Nonproliferation of Weapons; Open Door Policy, Partnership, Reforms and Transformation.

The institutional work is programmed and coordinated on aspects of EU integration, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other central institutions and common structures of these programs.
Adriatic Charter (A-5), SEDM and SEEBRIG are the international and regional organizations in which our country participates.
