1000 troops and 75 vehicles of the Ministry of Defence engaged for litter collection

Immediately after the decision taken from the inter-ministerial committee to declare the state of emergency for the environment situation, the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Armed Forces were engaged in several national roads, mainly in the area of Lezha-Shkodra. In the first hours of the morning, the Armed Forces’ troops were deployed in this area litter collection. Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Dritan Hila and the Chief of General Staff, Major General Jeronim Bazo followed the whole clearing process and invited the community to join this initiative.
Major General Bazo said that, the civil-military cooperation is a very important element that aids the community and whole Albanian society, which suffers a lot the problem of urban wastes. “Albania belongs to us all, let’s keep it clean”, is the motto of this initiative, and let’s commit ourselves maximally to this purpose, underlined Major General Jeronim Bazo. The main roads in which the Armed Forces were engaged today for litter collection were: Shkodra-Hani Hoti; Muriqan-Shkodra, Buna Bridge-Shirokë; Shkodra, Lezha-Milot. The Armed Forces plan to continue this mission for several weekends. During the day, the Armed Forces have cleared 76 km of roads, while the collected wastes were transported by the Armed Forces’ vehicles toward their collection sites.
