Peleshi in NATO ministerial: Albania unreservedly supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity

On the second day of the Ministerial of Defense in Brussels, the ministers of NATO countries met with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Josep Borell, and the Defense Ministers of Sweden, Finland, Ukraine, and Georgia.

In this session, Minister Peleshi pointed out that Albania has consistently seen NATO-EU cooperation as a key driver in strengthening Security and Defense in Europe and beyond. This cooperation becomes even more vital as we try to prevent the current crisis in Ukraine, which could have implications for the entire European continent.

Further, Mr. Peleshi stressed the importance of diplomatic efforts to calm the situation there, which could escalate further. Also in this session, Minister Peleshi reiterated our country's position on the crisis in Ukraine, offering support to the people, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also stressed the importance of coordinating and unifying attitudes and actions between NATO-EU and other partners on this issue.

At the meeting of the Alliance ministers with the Defense Ministers of Georgia and Ukraine, the implementation of security and defense reforms by both countries towards the path to NATO membership was discussed. Mr. Peleshi, in this session, praised the reforms, cooperation, and contribution of these two aspiring countries in the framework of membership in the Alliance.
