The military girls and women of the Land Force welcomed amongst them the Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka and Forces’ Commanders at the meeting organized in Zall-Herr on March the 8th. They all received dedicated attention this Friday, as their colleagues, husbands and sons took care of every detail.
Minister Xhaçka praised the work and commitment of women in the Armed Forces, thus becoming a model for the Albanian society.
“Share your experience with others! Keep raising your voice about your rights, about everything that belongs to you and is deserved, but also give voice to those who do not have. Tell your sisters, daughters, friends about the sacrifices and difficulties you have had to pass through, as well as the successes you have harvested, which are truly admirable when you consider such an unconventional profession for women and girls. Show them the weight and honor of the uniform you wear, tell them that it is necessary to have confidence in yourself. It is imperative that they dare and sacrifice to achieve what they deserve, not only in the Armed Forces but in our society,” - said the Minister during her speech.
The figures of recent years reflect an increasing number of girls and women in the Armed Forces.
They represent 13% of troops in uniform, more than 17% counting girls and women who are part of the civilian staff. Currently, approximately 75 students are attending higher education in military academies abroad such as USA, England, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Kosovo, who have completed their studies in 2018 and will do so up to 2025. Out of them 14 are women and girls, and 61 are males.
Currently, there are 14 women and girls, which make up 18.5% of the number of NCOs’ candidates during recruitment campaign for the period 2018-2019.
