55 years Archive of Armed Forces, Xhaçka: Guardian of Historical Memory

The Central Archive of the Armed Forces (CAAF) marks the 55th Anniversary of Foundation , by recording 516 archival funds and a 35 million-sheet records . Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, who was present at the ceremony organized at the premises of the National Museum, described the Archives as guardian of historical memory and values of the Armed Forces.

"Archives are real truth-seeking centers, they are also the most important guardians of the collective historical memory. By abandoning the classical approach that considers archives simply as bureaucratic structures, we need to configure them as the best starting point for the creation of a project that aims to build on the identity embodied in projects, successes and sustainability over time of the Armed Forces.”, - said the Minister.

According to the Defence Minister, the archives should not be considered as bureaucratic structures, they serve as a resource in terms of knowledge and creativity of the Armed Forces. “Our Armed Forces have incomparably increased their performance in domestic operations with countless engagements in coping with civil emergencies and in many other activities. We are present in many countries of the globe as part of the Alliance, but also of the European Union and already of the United Nations, and the geography of our participation is constantly expanding. Today, we have the great responsibility to build the future of the AF, our present is the future of our children. So let them feel proud of our work.” , - concluded the Minister.

The Central Archive of the Armed Forces was honored by the Defence Minister with the Medal of Gratitude, while two of the oldest employees were also appraised with medals.
