The Albanian Air Force will be further modernized thanks to the support of the US Department of Defence.
During the stay in the United States, Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka visited the New Jersey National Guard at Joint Base McGuire – Dix - Lakehurst, where she was welcomed by its commander, Brigadier General Jemal J. Beale.
During this visit, a bilateral agreement was concluded between the US Department of Defense and the Albanian Ministry of Defense for the intake of “Black Hawk” helicopters.
Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka assessed this as an extraordinary aid given to Albania.
“The support that the United States have provided to Albania through the package of support not only modernizes our capabilities but also increases the readiness and operability of our Air Force.” - said Minister Xhaçka.
This summer, pilots and technicians of the Albanian Air Force will begin training on the use of “Black Hawk” helicopters at the New Jersey National Guard, which will also take care of the maintenance of these flying vehicles.
The National Guard State Partnership Program is an US Defense Department program managed by the National Guard, linking the United States with partner countries to support security cooperation objectives.
