Major Klodian Tanushi wounded in line of duty in Latvia, passed away

 

Major Klodian Tanushi, who was wounded on May 6, while carrying out military duties, in NATO’s “enhanced Forward Presence” Mission in Latvia lost the last battle. Major Tanushi, passed away four days after the incident, at which even Corporal Zarife Hasanaj lost her life.

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka described this as another painful news coming from Latvia. “With our heart and soul, we are close to his family, his wife and three children on this day of mourning. They will miss him, but we will all miss him too, every one of us who was lucky to have known him,” - said Xhaçka.
Major Klodian Tanushi was under intensive care of doctors at the Riga hospital but could not survive.

Who was Major Klodian Nikolla Tanushi:

Major Klodian Nikolla Tanushi was born in Dibër on 31.10.1980. He was married and had three children (two boys and a girl) respectively 14, 11 and 1 and a half years old.
In 1999, he completed the Professional High School “Nazmi Rushiti” in the branch of "automotive technician". From 2000 to 2003 he attended the Skanderbeg Military Academy.
He completed Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Course, Level I; and attended the EUFOR Mine Awareness Instructor Course.
Upon completion of the academy, he was commissioned officer and in 2003 was given the rank of “Second Lieutenant”; in 2006 “First Lieutenant”, in 2010 "Captain" and in 2017 "Major".
During his military career, he performed duties such as: Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Chief of Section, specialist of operations. His penultimate task was that of the Commander of First EOD Platoon.
On 20.12.2018, he was sent to the NATO Military Operation in Riga, Latvia, in the composition of the Canadian Group-battalion as Commander of the Albanian Contingent and Senior Military Representative on a six-month term.
During his career he was awarded the “Medal of Career” by the Force Commander, the “Medal of Service” by the Chief of General Staff, “Medal of Service in Mission Abroad", and the “Medal for Participation in International Services” by the Defence Minister.
