Korça, Civil Emergencies and Albanian Armed Forces close to families affected by earthquake

The Ministry of Defense, through the United Operations Center is giving the first aid to the residents affected by means of Korça Regional Protection Detachment, which will aid them to pitching of tents that are arriving by the General Directorate of State Material Reserves, as well as a drinking water tank. Also, measurements have been taken for the supply of food to residents.
The General Directorate of Civil Emergency is in standby mode and following step by step the situation by communicating with all central and local institutions to cope as soon as possible with the situation created, while Director General, Mr. Haki Çako is visiting the affected area.
The first 50 tents have been erected, which will be followed by others who have arrived with the truck, equipped with blankets and beds.
Measurements have been taken for the supply of food and water to residents.
Four people suffered minor injuries from the earthquake shakes, while dozens of habitations, most of which, old and uninhabited, were damaged.
Earthquake tremors in the Korça district are registered from 06:20 (GTM) until 09:00.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Floq village of Korça district. The destroyed habitations have undergone wall cracks, roof cracks and gypsum casting.
In the village Floq and Dvoran are 70 houses, 59 of them are very old and uninhabited for many years. In the village Qafëzezë 10 habitations are destroyed. In the village Vidohovë 20 old houses have undergone wall cracks.
Ascertainment and damage assessment commissions are on the ground and are evidencing any damage caused.
In the Korça Regional Hospital, 4 citizens with minor injuries were reported as a result of the collapse of the walls of several houses. Korça Regional Hospital is on standby mode with ambulance, medical staff and with a capacity of 300 beds able to cope with any situation.
