Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka: the 99% of fires during summer were intentional; everyone will face the severity of law

During July and August were recorded an unusual number of fires. The Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, emphasized that there were 324 fireplaces in the country during this period.

The Minister, according to data, stressed that most of them were intentional fires; a reason why anyone who destroyed public property and endangered citizens lives will face the law.

"Despite the tremendous work of Civil Emergencies, Armed Forces, firefighters and the help of numerous citizens who joined us as volunteers, July and August recorded an unusual number of fires. 324 fires all over the country, 1,900 ha of forests, agricultural land, pastures, in 99% of cases were not caused by high temperatures, but from intentional arson! The law will be tougher against the perpetrators of these acts that endanger our common good.” - stated Minister Xhaçka.

The Defence Minister emphasizes that Civil Emergencies continue to be in charge of protecting public and private property, and above all, the lives of citizens.
