March 8, Peleshi: The role of woman and their number in the Armed Forces increased


In his speech, Minister Peleshi pointed out not only an increase in the number of women in the Albanian Armed Forces but also the consolidation of their role, their new responsibilities, and important duties.

"We are very proud of our brave women in uniform for their excellent contribution. Albania fully supports the importance of the role of women in strengthening peace and security. Owing to the high priority given to women's empowerment and the achievement of gender equality, Albania has made significant progress in increasing the quotas of women in parliament, public administration, army, police, and judiciary, especially in recent years. In full compliance with the National Strategy for Gender Equality and the National Action Plan 1325, the Ministry of Defense has incorporated the gender perspective into its recruitment policies and procedures by promoting and enhancing women's leadership in the military hierarchy by appointing military women to high positions. high level; increasing women's participation in missions and operations abroad; increasing the number of women in the Albanian Military Representations near NATO command structures and also the number of women in diplomatic missions abroad. One of the main policies of the Armed Forces is to increase the participation of women in peacekeeping missions and operations abroad, as well as to prevent and resolve conflicts. Let me recall the military participation of women in peacekeeping missions and theater of operations in Latvia, Kosovo, and South Sudan.”



The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Bajram Begaj, put great emphasis on the important role of women in uniform and estimated their service.
