Remembering the 80th Anniversary of the Peza Conference, Peleshi: Albania's mission is to keep the Balkans oriented towards the West

One of the most important historical events, the 80th Anniversary of the Peza Conference, was remembered today. In this activity participated the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Manushaqe Shehu.

In his speech, the Defence Minister appreciated the role of veterans and their descendants, in keeping alive this day and the messages that the Peza Conference has conveyed over the years to the younger generation:
"Just like in the Treaty of Lezha, or in the Albanian League of Prizren, here in Peza, on September 16, 1942, the national instinct brought together all Albanians, without differences, in front of a danger, a great threat, the fascist invaders, at that time Italian. Albanians have shown that each time the danger exceeds the internal problems, we come together, we rise above the differences, nothing separates us, neither religion, nor the region, nor the idea", - said Minister Peleshi.
Defence Minister lined up on the right side of history, which today gives the country a passport and moral right to enter the European Union with dignity and head up, alongside the progressive forces. Minister Peleshi further added that we are facing some risks that are not only potential risks, but are actual cyber attacks.

"This is actually the war of today and the future. It is even stronger and more dangerous than physical combat. Today, Albania is a dignified member of the most powerful political and military Alliance, which is NATO. This makes us safe, protected, but obviously does not take the risks and threats to zero, as the last one was. You know the world has changed, the security scene in the world has changed, after the Russian attack of unjustified invasion in Ukraine. Geopolitics has changed and we are in the middle of a very fragile region, such as the Western Balkans, but Albania in the Western Balkans is the only country without internal political problems and without political and geopolitical dilemmas. We are oriented towards the west and we have a mission to play in all the Albanian territories even outside the body of Albania to keep the Balkans to the west. Of course, this confrontation with other dark forces gives us costs, exposes us and makes us be vigilant, but we must also be mobilized with each other, rise above what divides us and unite in national pacts. Today it is a sin to speculate on the cyber attack against Albania, because it is not a war against the SP or against the SP government, it is a war against Albania because Albania, just like in World War II, even now has decided to align itself next to NATO- s, the USA, the free world.", - said the Defence Minister.

Leaders of the local government, members of the Committee of Veterans and residents of the Peza area also took part in the organized activity.

On September 16, 1942, at the Peza Conference, the representatives of all political forces of the country gathered and worked out the joint platform of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War.
