Minister Vengu enhances military and civil defense capacities in meetings with U.S., Dutch, and Romanian diplomats

This week, Defence Minister Pirro Vengu engaged in pivotal discussions with Dutch Ambassador for Cybersecurity Ernest Noorman, Romanian Ambassador Octavian Şerban, and U.S. military attachés and advisors embedded at the Ministry of Defense. The meetings centered on boosting dual-use civil and military capacities, advancing Civil Defense and military medical programs, and receiving U.S. advisory support in Defense and Security.

In a dedicated session with the American military advisors, the focus was on the action plan for the final quarter of 2024. Discussions included optimizing human resource management, developing a motivating career system for military personnel, medium-term budget planning aligned with Security and Defense goals, modernization initiatives, aligning defense policies with Alliance priorities, strengthening the Military Industry, and enhancing Cyber Defense capabilities.

With Dutch Ambassador Reinout Vos, discussions extended beyond bilateral cooperation to explore deepening joint programs in Civil Defense.

Minister Vengu also expressed gratitude to Romanian Ambassador Octavian Şerban for Romania’s assistance during Albania’s fire emergencies, particularly for providing two military aircraft, the C-27J Spartan and C-130 Hercules.
