Albanian troops relieved in foreign missions, Vengu: A day of pride, albania's dignity on the international stage

A platoon from the Southern Infantry Regiment, including two women, departed for the NATO battlegroup in Bulgaria, while the next contingent, consisting of the Special Operations Regiment returning from the KFOR mission in Kosovo, arrived.

The welcoming and farewell ceremony for both contingents took place in Zall Herr, with the participation of Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, and the Commander of the Land Force, Major General Ilir Xhebexhia.

In his speech, Minister Vengu congratulated the troops heading on mission during the holiday season and also acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families.
The Minister highlighted the importance of the Albanian Armed Forces' contribution to NATO missions, not only for security but also for Albania’s role and standing in the international arena.

"Your presence in two different missions in the region, providing security, speaks volumes, and today is a day of pride and reflection for all of us. Your mission, no matter where or under what circumstances, represents more than just a duty, it represents the dedication, courage, and dignity of Albania. I know very well that completing it successfully requires sacrifices. In Bulgaria, you will contribute to strengthening NATO’s eastern flank, helping to maintain peace and stability at a time when global security faces many challenges. We have shown how loyal and committed we are to fulfilling our obligations to the Alliance, thanks to the contribution you have made and will continue to make in the future. Meanwhile, those returning from the KFOR mission bring an excellent example of professionalism and commitment, having contributed to a land we all hold dear—Kosovo, which needs the support of all of us as part of the great Alliance. You have demonstrated that Albania is a reliable partner, committed to our shared values."

Minister Vengu told the assembled troops, reminding them of what they represent, especially during missions abroad. "You do not only represent the uniform you wear; you represent the strength and dignity of Albania on the international stage. In every step you take, you are ambassadors of our national values and our resilience as part of NATO." - he concluded.

The contingent heading to the NATO mission in Bulgaria is made up of the Southern Infantry Regiment and will serve for six months, deployed in the Novo Selo training area.
