Emergency Civil Protection Committee meeting held to tackle wildfire threats

The current wildfire situation and response measures were the focus of an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Protection Committee held today, chaired by Defence Minister Pirro Vengu and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
The meeting brought together relevant ministers, regional prefects, mayors, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, senior representatives from the National Civil Protection Agency, State Police and other institutions.
A strong emphasis was placed on the need for rapid response, full engagement of local structures and continuous on-the-ground monitoring.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku called for maximum commitment from local authorities, particularly from prefects and municipal leaders.
Minister Vengu underlined the urgency of quick reaction and mobilization of local capacities:
"The most critical situation is in Dukat, where special attention is needed to protect residential areas. Additional caution is also required in Kurbin - Shkopet - Milot and Lura National Park." he stated.
The Committee decided to raise the state of readiness to address any potential emergencies, especially with high temperatures forecasted for the coming days.
The Civil Protection Committee serves as the highest permanent authority coordinating all interinstitutional activities and operations involving structures and entities engaged in civil protection.
