Ratification of the Direct Loan Agreement between Albania and the United States, Defence Minister Ermal Nufi: “A historic milestone and a strategic investment in national security”

Defence Minister of the Republic of Albania Ermal Nufi, described Parliament’s ratification of the Direct Loan Agreement between the Republic of Albania and the United States of America as a historic milestone and tangible evidence of the United States’ strategic support for Albania.

According to Minister Nufi, since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States in 1990 and Albania’s subsequent accession to NATO, this represents the most significant act of support for Albania in concrete and financial terms.

The Minister emphasised that the agreement is not merely a financial instrument, but a strategic investment that will contribute to:

* national security within the framework of NATO 3.0 and Albania’s commitment as a dedicated member of the Alliance;

* strengthening the capabilities and advancing the modernisation of the Albanian Armed Forces;

* deepening Albania’s strategic partnership with its most important ally in the field of security and defence, the United States of America.

Minister Nufi described this development as a milestone of particular importance for security, defence and the strategic partnership between Albania and the United States.
