Nufi: “Graduation marks the Bbeginning of a strategic investment in the future leadership of the Armed Forces”

A total of 83 officers from Albania, including seven members of the Kosovo Security Force, successfully completed the 2025–2026 academic year at the Defence and Security College, graduating from the General Staff and Command Course and the Senior Officer Course.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Ermal Nufi, the Ambassador of Kosovo to Albania, Skënder Durmishi, the Commandant of the Defence and Security College, Brigadier General Altin Kurti, senior commanders of the Albanian Armed Forces, and other distinguished guests.
In his address, Minister Nufi described graduation as the beginning of a strategic investment in the future leadership of the Armed Forces, emphasizing that the professional education and development of military officers remain one of the fundamental pillars of national defence and security.
Reflecting on today's evolving security environment, Minister Nufi noted:
“The security environment in which we live has become more complex, more dynamic, and more unpredictable than ever before. Conventional conflicts, hybrid threats, cyberattacks, rapid technological advances, and challenges to the international order require military leaders who can think strategically, work closely with Allies, and make responsible decisions for the future.”
He stressed that military education does not end with the awarding of a diploma but represents a lifelong process that shapes professional culture and prepares leaders to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Minister Nufi also highlighted the continued development of the Defence and Security College as a leading institution for professional military education, preparing officers to serve effectively both at the national level and within NATO structures and missions.
He reaffirmed that developing human capital remains a key priority for both the Albanian Government and the Ministry of Defence, emphasizing that modern equipment and advanced technologies can only reach their full potential when operated by highly skilled, professional, and dedicated personnel.
In this context, the Minister reiterated the vision of further developing the Defence and Security College into a modern, competitive institution, closely integrated with the military academies and defence colleges of NATO Allies and European Union member states.
Minister Nufi concluded by expressing his appreciation to Albania's international partners, the College's leadership, faculty, and staff for their continued contribution to enhancing the quality of military education. He also praised the cooperation between the Albanian Armed Forces and the Kosovo Security Force, describing it as a reflection of the close ties and shared commitment of the two countries to strengthening professional military capabilities in support of their common security.
