Defence Minister Ermal Nufi Attends Central European Defence Cooperation and Western Balkans Ministerial Meeting in Slovenia

Nufi: “Albania Remains Firmly Committed to Strengthening Regional Cooperation in Defence and Security”

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, Mr Ermal Nufi, attended the Central European Defence Cooperation and Western Balkans Ministerial Meeting (CEDC), where discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation in defence and security.

The meeting brought together senior representatives from participating countries to discuss enhancing their collective contribution and capabilities in support of regional security, addressing shared challenges and threats, and coordinating policies and efforts within the framework of the European Union.

In a post shared on social media, Minister Nufi reaffirmed Albania’s unwavering commitment to regional cooperation in defence and security:

“Albania remains committed to strengthening regional cooperation in defence and security, thereby contributing to a safer, more resilient and more united Europe. In close coordination with our allies and partners, Albania will continue to support joint efforts to promote peace, stability and the European perspective of the Western Balkans,” he said.

The Central European Defence Cooperation (CEDC) is a defence cooperation initiative comprising the Central European countries of Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia, which holds the rotating presidency this year. Poland participates in the format as an observer.

The CEDC serves as a security and defence platform through which participating countries discuss, develop and promote their shared interests.
