Minister Nufi welcomes new U.S. Ambassador to Tirana, Eric Wendt

Nufi: “Albania stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States for freedom, security and peace”

Defence Minister of the Republic of Albania, Ermal Nufi, welcomed the new U.S. Ambassador to Tirana, Eric Wendt.

“Ambassador Wendt, welcome to Albania!” Minister Nufi wrote in a social media post, adding:

“The United States is an indispensable partner to Albania in defence and security. Albania brings to this partnership a strategically important geographic position, credibility and a clear commitment to cooperation.”

Minister Nufi also noted that Corridor VIII, Porto Romano, Kuçova Air Base and Albania’s Host Nation Support capabilities strengthen the Alliance’s defence architecture and military mobility in South-Eastern Europe.

He further emphasised that Albania has become an active contributor to peace and security:

“From our support for Ukraine and our presence in KFOR to numerous multinational initiatives and the decision to participate in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, Ally capable of contributing to security and peace.”

“Albania stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States, for freedom, security and peace,” Minister Nufi concluded.
