Minister Nufi was accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji. During the visit, they also met the Centre’s commanders and instructors and were briefed on the training programmes under way.
The Defence Minister highlighted QAPU’s important role in preparing the next generation of Albanian Armed Forces personnel. He noted that the Centre’s mission extends beyond military instruction, helping trainees develop discipline, resilience, responsibility, character and a strong sense of teamwork.
“The military uniform is a lifelong privilege. It represents your pride and your honour.” Minister Nufi told the young people who have chosen military service and a life dedicated to their country.
He stressed that maintaining high standards and providing continuous professional development are essential to building capable military personnel. Minister Nufi also praised the Centre’s instructors, underlining their responsibility to pass on the knowledge, skills and values that underpin service in the Armed Forces.
“During these three months of training, you learn discipline, rules, resilience and cooperation and, above all, what it means to belong to a force that operates as one. Success here is not measured only by your ability to complete a task or master a military skill. It is also measured by your character, your respect for your fellow service members, your trust in the team and your readiness never to leave behind someone who needs help,” Minister Nufi said.
Referring to the rapidly evolving security environment, the Minister emphasised Albania’s need for professional and highly trained military personnel capable of operating in accordance with NATO standards.
“Our path is clear: to build Armed Forces that are constantly learning, adapting to change and investing in their people as much as in the modernisation of their capabilities. In today’s rapidly changing security environment, Albania needs professional, capable and well-prepared military personnel who can operate to NATO standards, meet emerging challenges and contribute responsibly to our shared Euro-Atlantic security.” he stated.
Last week, 78 participants in the Officer Preparation Course began a ten-week military training programme at QAPU. Another 80 bachelor’s degree students started a five-week training programme.
The Soldier Professional Training Centre in Bunavi provides basic and advanced military training, preparing recruits and cadets for the transition from civilian life to military service and for the responsibilities they will assume in serving their country.
