Defence Intelligence Agency’s Training Centre takes the name of “Shawn Pine”

In the premises of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), it was held today the ceremony of awarding the medal “For Distinguished Services” (after death) to Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Pine, as well as giving his name to the Defence Intelligence Agency’s Training Centre. At the ceremony attended the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, generals and other senior militaries of the Armed Forces, the U.S. Defence Attaché, Commander (N) Ralph Shield, etc.

The opening speech of the ceremony was held by the Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency, Brigadier General Ylber Dogjani. The ceremony was addressed by U.S. Defence Attaché in Tirana, Commander (N) Ralph Shield. On this occasion, Defence Minister Kodheli submitted to the U.S. defence attaché the medal “For Distinguished Services” (after death) awarded to LTC Shawn Pine.

Later, Minister Kodheli and Commander (N) Ralph Shield discovered the plate with the name and photo of LTC Shawn Pine. Then, Minister Kodheli, Major General Bazo and other the participants visited the premises of the DIA Training Centre, which now bears the name of the LTC Shawn Pine.

LTC Shawn Pine exercised his activity to reform the Military Intelligence Service (currently the Defence Intelligence Agency) during the period 2004-2005. LTC Shawn Pine activity, as representative of the U.S. Defence Intelligence Agency, is assessed as excellent; he was directly involved in the institutional building of the Military Intelligence Service’s standards based on the U.S. intelligence agency standards, providing an indelible contribution to the transformation of the intelligence agencies in our country in terms of democracy.
