Minister Kodheli meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence, Evelyn N. Farkas

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli is in Brussels participating at the NATO Defence Minister meeting.
During the day, Mrs. Kodheli had a meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, Ms. Evelyn N. Farkas. During the meeting, Mrs. Kodheli informed Ms. Farkas about current reform in Defence and in the Armed Forces, such as the latest proposals for the legal framework improvement. Regarding this topic, Minister Kodheli focused on the Ministry of Defence commitment in the fight against corruption and Armed Forces restructuring.

Both senior officials, focused on important bilateral cooperation issues and possibilities of their further deepening. Regarding this topic, it was discussed the request for legal assistance, made by Minister Kodheli, on issues related to the fight against corruption.

Mrs. Kodheli and Ms. Farkas discussed about the current situation in Ukraine, which is also the main topic of the NATO Defence Ministers meeting and about the measures NATO is taking to ensure Allies safety.
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence, Ms. Farkas, stated that the Unites States supports the Albanian Government and the Ministry of Defense in the reform undertaken, as well as its commitments under NATO, assessing them very positively.
