Defence Minister Kodheli meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence, Ms. Farkas

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli held today a meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, Ms. Evelyn N. Farkas.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest. Mrs. Kodheli informed Ms. Farkas about the latest developments in Defence and Security in the region. Minister Kodheli praised the role and contribution the United States is making for the Armed Forces modernization and transformation. She assured that, with the new leadership the Armed Forces will be part of a transparent decision-making and promotion system.

Ms. Farkas praised Albania’s role as a factor of continuous stability in the region. According to her, the contribution made by the Republic of Albania and the Albanian militaries have always been significant. Ms. Farkas stressed the importance of continuing the fight against corruption and underlined the undisputed U.S. support against this phenomenon.

In the meeting also attended the Chief of General Staff, Major General Jeronim Bazo, and Major General Randy Kee, Director of Strategy and Policy at the U.S. European Command.
