Joint Exercise “Imposition ‘14”

In the Bay of Vlora, it was held the joint exercise codenamed “Imposition ‘14”. In this exercise participated four ships, two speedboats and a boarding team of the Naval Force; two helicopters, Cougar-633 and BO-105 of the Air Force, as well as a special group of 12 men from the Special Forces Battalion.

This exercise aimed to increase the knowledge about the rules of national and international maritime legislation; increase the inter-institutional cooperation, coordination of actions between participating forces and assets, control of the maritime operational readiness of the Naval Flotilla; testing ways of solving the task of determining the area of research by the management staff of the operation and commanders of the ships, as well as testing the response time and manner of conducting enforcement actions for surveillance, tracking, verification and capture of the vessel that commits law offences.

“Imposition ‘14” exercise was followed closely by the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, the Naval Force Commander, Brigadier General Qemal Shkurti, as well as senior officers of the Naval and Air Force staff.

The drill was organized according to two scenarios. In the first scenario, the military ships participating in the exercise conducted joint actions to obstruct and block the exit from the Bay of Vlora of a speedboat suspected of trafficking narcotics, while in the second scenario joint actions between the forces and vessels were conducted for catching a freighter that was taken hostage and freeing its crew. Diverse actions on the sea, air and land were conducted with high professionalism from the Armed Forces personnel.

At the conclusion of the exercise the vessels cruised in formation along the coast from the Port of Vlora towards the Radhima Pier.
