Luiza Gega, well-known athlete, message on the Day of the Fight against Breast Cancer

Yesterday, on the occasion of the International Day of Fight against Breast Cancer, a mini marathon was organised in which hundreds of athletes and citizens of Tirana took part. Ministers of the Government, politicians, employees of foreign embassies in Tirana, etc, also became part of this marathon. The motto of this mini marathon was “Run towards life”. The marathon started at the “Mother Teresa” Square, continued around the hills of the artificial lake and finished at the Lake Dam runway. The representative of Military Police and the prominent athlete, Ms. Luiza Gega arrived first and was awarded the cup of this marathon.

This sportive activity was a call and sensitization for all women in our country, to make them more aware of and to increase their health care and life. Likewise, athletes run in a marathon to achieve a faster time, every woman should also run to identify and prevent in time the disease of the century, breast cancer.

Ms. Luiza Gega, this dignified representative of Albanian women, along with the high results achieved in athletics as record holder of Albania and of the Balkans in the 1,500 meters race, ranked sixth in the world and 2nd in the Mediterranean Games, is also an exemplary military of the Military Police. “I participated with pleasure in this activity, because through it a very important message is conveyed for the life and health of Albanian women in the fight against breast cancer. I wish all women and my sisters might be healthy, love life and fight to be in the forefront”, said the well-known athlete, Ms. Luiza Gega.
