Ministry of Defence, awareness activity for the fight against breast cancer

Kodheli: Fight against breast cancer is our common struggle, the struggle for life.
Beqja: Free mammograms for the women of the Armed Forces.
An awareness activity for the fight against breast cancer was organised today at the Ministry of Defence. At the activity attended military and civilian women working in the structures of the Ministry of Defence, General Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as in other structures of “Skënderbej” garrison.
The activity was attended by the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Minister of Health, Mr. Ilir Beqaj, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, other representatives of the Ministry of Health, etc.
In her speech, Defence Minister Kodheli stressed that October, is known as the month of the fight against breast cancer. Almost all over the world, during this month, awareness campaigns have been taken about this disease. Minister Kodheli said that breast cancer is recognized as one of the most widespread diseases, describing it as the first murderer that causes death among women.
Even in the Armed Forces, there are numerous cases of women diagnosed with this disease, further continued Mrs. Kodheli. As in any field, the Albanian Government’s care has increased even more. In cooperation with the Ministry of Health, we will further enhance care and we are taking real steps in order to achieve free examining visits for women working in the Armed Forces. Mrs. Kodheli addressed an appeal to all women to declare war against this deadly enemy, becoming more responsible and cautious about ourselves. My message, said Mrs. Kodheli, stems from the strength and courage of many women who have challenged this disease, overcoming all the difficulties they have faced. Fight against breast cancer is our common struggle, the struggle for life, added Minister Kodheli.
On this occasion, Minister Kodheli especially thanked the Minister of Health, Mr. Ilir Beqaj for his interest and direct care in this broad awareness campaign regarding the fight against breast cancer.
The participants were also addressed by the Minister of Health, Mr. Ilir Beqaj, who spoke on the measures the Government has taken to assist women in this struggle. He invited the women participating in the event, to make a free examining with the mammograph.
Later, many women participating in the activity were examined at the mobile mammography unit.
