Promotion of the book, “Uniform’s burden and beauty”

In framework of the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Homeland and of the activities organized by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), under the auspices of the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, at the auditorium of Minister of Defence was held the promotion of the book, “Uniform’s burden and beauty” written by LTC (R) Lida Grazhdani. This cultural event was attended by: the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Minister of Culture, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro, Chief of General Staff, Major General Jeronim Bazo, members of Albania’s Parliament, Ms. Klodiana Spahiu and Ms. Mimoza Hafizi, as well as many other popular figures of art and culture, military women of the Armed Forces, etc.

The opening speech was held by LTC (R) Liljana Mero, who appreciated the work done by the MoD’s staff, and in particular the Defence Minister Kodheli for the publication of this book, and focused on some book features that make it unique in the category of military publications, and beyond.

In her address, Defence Minister Kodheli said that “I am happy to participate today at the promotion ceremony of the book “Uniform’s burden and beauty” written by Lida Grazhdani. As you have noticed, this month is filled with a wide range of activities in the framework of celebrations on the occasion of the 102nd Anniversary of Independence and 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of the country. Today’s activity occupies a special place in this regard, not only because it is being held during the extraordinary month of remembrance and national pride, but also since it goes back in history, exposing in a quite special way, the transformation of the Armed Forces. In our national history”, continued further Mrs. Kodheli, “it has not been easy for the Albanian woman, therefore the reflection of the “world” of writing, making the others conscious for the female’s challenging reality in those years is a strong message to all Albanian society nowadays”.

Highlighting the importance of this book, Minister Kodheli added: “I, as Minister of Defence, will always be opened to listen to such significant ideas and will support them without hesitation. It is time, for the Albanian society to have proactive approach towards the book, because in my opinion, it is the best form for a healthy knowledge society”.

The author of the book, Lida Grazhdani focused shortly in content and mission of the book, the path it went through until its publication, and thanked the Minister of Defence Kodheli for the support and care showed for the publication of this book.

The participants were also addressed by the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro.

According to the tradition of the promotion ceremony, the author handed signed books to the Minister of Defence, Minister of Culture, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and many other participants.

The book “Uniform’s burden and beauty” brought to the public’s attention the first generation of 70 women who attended the military school in the years ’67-‘69 and their career in ranks of the Albanian army.
