Upon the request of the Fierza Hydropower Plant Directorate, the Armed Forces launched an action to clean Fierza and Koman lakes from plastic waste. Minister of Defense, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, accompanied by the Director of Fierza Hydopower plant Ergys Verdho were present in this action.

Minister Kodheli considered the pollution of the lakes as quite problematic, comparing them with the environmental emergency that the entire country is facing. Mrs. Kodheli emphasized the importance of these lakes, both for energy production and tourism, and invited citizens to keep them clean. "It is very important that this area is kept clean for many reasons: tourism, environment protection, and well-functioning of all structures. Hence, I appeal together we increase the civic conscience.

Only with the citizens we can make such a thing happen. Appealing once again to the citizens, to the residents, to the tourists, not to pollute this miracle of nature and God, on the contrary to keep it clean, to develop it so that the flora and fauna around, and all that extraordinary gift nature has donated to us is preserved as it is. That would help everyone. It would help the army not spend more energy and do other jobs. Of course this would also help the structures of the Albanian Electro-Energy Corporate (AEC) and all the structures of the Energy and Tourism Ministries to get the most out of this extraordinary area. "
Director of Fierza Hydro Power Plant Mr. Ergys Verdho expressed his satisfaction for the cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces and thanked them for the work they are doing by emphasizing the importance of this initiative, not only for touristic reasons but also for the well-functioning of the cascade.
