Fungo: Albania, a very reliable partner of KFOR

Today KFOR Commander, Major General Giovanni Fungo paid an official visit at the Ministry of Defense, where he was received by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Petro Koçi and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku.

The main topics of the meeting were the key issues of security, prosperity and continuation of our country’s support for NATO Operation in Kosovo (KFOR). Mr. Fungo expressed his appreciation for Albania and the Albanian Armed Forces, referring to them as a reliable partner. 
Deputy Minister Koçi emphasized that KFOR is considered as a success story of NATO.

“KFOR guarantees security and stability for all citizens of Kosovo. On the other hand, he stressed we are the advocates of transformation of KSF into an Armed Force. In this way we will have peace and stability in Kosovo and in the region. This issue should continue to be discussed in the Alliance” said Mr. Koçi.

Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku praised the personal role and leadership of the Commander for running KFOR, successfully managing the situation in some very delicate and difficult cases as well as KFOR cooperation with the Kosovo Security Force, by helping this force be transformed into an Armed Force.

KFOR Commander Major General Giovanni Fungo praised the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania for their contribution to KFOR, with well-trained personnel and for supporting KFOR, especially in securing the way from the entry point in the Port of Durrës up to border.

At the end of the meeting, Major General Fungo signed the guestbook. Both Generals exchanged gifts and later visited the Museum of the Armed Forces.
