From today, 6.000 residents of 10 villages in the Municipalities of Dropull and Delvinë have facilitated access to the rest of their municipality and to the rest of the country. The Engineering Battalion of the Armed Forces has built in just a few days, two bridges in Vanë and Llongo, which were damaged earlier this month due to the extreme weather conditions. The Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka during the inspection of the two bridges assured the community that the Armed Forces will continue to be near them not only during the holidays, but every day of the year.
"The post - emergency phase is just as important as the response in the first hours after the emergencies, where the Armed Forces engaged about 3,000 people. Our boys continue to be in the field from 4 weeks with the construction of bridges such as Darëzes a few days ago or like these in Delvinë and Dropull today, which brings to 10 the number of bridges we have built since September of this year. We will be close to everyone in the most difficult times. Even when others celebrate, the Armed Forces will be on duty as they are at any moment with patriotism and extraordinary dedication to work. For us it is not important whether someone resides along the Tirana-Durrës highway, Vlora, Dropull, or in remote and isolated areas. We will always be near them, to overcome the difficulties and make life easier for them", - said the Minister during the inspection of the bridge on "Përroi i Rrapishteve" in Dropull.
The Defense Minister was accompanied in Dropull by the Prefect Astrit Aliaj and by the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, at the same time the deputy for the Gjirokastra District. "It was the great readiness of the Armed Forces that made it possible for us to overcome the emergency in a short time. We have also discussed with the district deputies and share the same opinion that the AAF was always near us, especially in the last few months where we had two emergencies and passed them with them by our side", - said Minister Kumbaro.
In Delvinë, the bridge constructed makes it possible for 1 thousand residents of Vanë village to access the national road without any difficulties. Minister Xhaçka during the meeting with residents informed that over 4 thousand families in some municipalities have been assisted with food and clothing packages these weeks.
"From December 3rd until the moment we are speaking, in cooperation with the prefects and the local government, there are 800 tons of food products and livestock feed distributed in more than 6 municipalities. I am glad to confirm that today, there are over 4 thousand families assisted and being assisted by the Armed Forces to overcome the consequences of flooding, helping them with food, clothing, medicines and livestock feed.” - said the Minister during the inspection of the bridge, accompanied by a deputy from Vlora region, Alket Hyseni and prefect Flamur Manaj.
