Xhaçka decorates United States Defense Attaché: Relations with the USA in a new and qualitative stage

Today Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka awarded the "Medal of Gratitude" to the outgoing United States Defense Attaché Captain Sam G. Wartell, who finished his two-year mandate. At the special ceremony attended by US Ambassador to Tirana Donald Lu, Minister Xhaçka welcomed the new Defense Attaché Captain James Hilton.

The Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka appreciated the two-year contribution of Captain Wartell two-year to further enhance the level of cooperation in the field of Defense and Security between Albania and the United States. Regarding the United States of America as the main strategic partner in the field of defense, Minister Xhaçka underlined the fact that these relations have now entered a new and more qualitative stage.

"The Government of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Defense are engaged in a modernization process of the Armed Forces, with the aim of enhancing and improving the operational capacities of our military structures, especially of those structures that are part of NATO Collective Defense”,- said Defense Minister.
