CISM international run day at AAF, Xhaçka: Career in AF, as clean as this sports competition

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania joined the armies of 135 other member countries on CISM (Conseil International du Sport Militaire/International Military Sports Council) international run day.

Soldiers, NCOs and officers of all the ranks and of all commands, and units of our Armed Forces participated in the "CISM - 2018 Runnig Day" in the Tirana Artificial Lake Hills, which was held in cooperation with Tirana Municipality and the Athletics Federation.

The race took place in two disciplines, 10 km for male runners and 6 km for female runners.
Captain Bledar Mesi came first for man, followed by Private Alban Faslliu from the Kosovo Security Force and third came Lieutenant Renato Dordi from the Air Force.

In females race Cadet Xhuliana Tahillari from the Training and Doctrines Command came first, followed by Private Sadete Popshini, while Artemisa Axhami from Military Police was placed at the lowest level of the podium.

Symbolic trophies and certificates for the first three places in both disciplines were delivered by Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Brigadier General Kollçaku.

After congratulating the winners and all participants in the race, Minister Xhaçka stressed the importance of meritocracy, which as she stated would be fundamental for the career in the Armed Forces. "We are fully committed to keeping your career alive and make it resemble this beautiful sports competition. At the same time we are working to keep this race clean, honest and healthy, a contest where each of you is assessed and promoted based on the merit and performance displayed during your work.

This fair race will give you all the opportunity to express in the best way the level of professional training while serving in our Armed Forces, and will increase its professional level, and consequently the quality of task fulfillment", said Minister Xhaçka.

The International Military Sports Council (CISM) is one of the largest multidisciplinary organizations in the world. CISM Running Day is annually organized by this organization making it the day when military and civilians run together everywhere in the world under the flag of sport and peace. The aim of this event is to promote mass sport in the Armed Forces.
