Evaluation and promotion based on meritocracy and a more dignifying treatment progressively for Albanian servicemen was the main message that Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka conveyed to the Infantry Battalion III (b3k) in Poshnje, during her stay in Berat, in the framework of government gathering in this district.
During her visit to the b3k, Minister Xhaçka was accompanied by the Defence Deputy Minister Petro Koçi and the Land Force Commander Brigadier General Nazmi Cahani.
Initially, Minister Xhaçka thanked all the effectives of this battalion for their commitment and contribution to the recent floods, especially now that the Civil Emergencies are under the responsibility of the institution she leads. "I would like to dwell on the Civil Emergencies that are already the Ministry of Defence's responsibility, because I have seen the contribution, dedication, commitment and professionalism of each of you in those very difficult operations in early December, mainly in Fier and Vlora areas, but also here in Berat with the extraordinary work that each of you has done to help those residents who suffered the consequences of bad weather "- said Minister Xhaçka, who declared that she was aware of the difficulties and the needs of the military and for which she expressed her commitment to a more dignifying treatment for each of them.
Further, Minister Xhaçka held a short conversation with the military personnel who successfully passed the tests to become part of the future Albanian contingent, who will serve in the NATO Resolute Support mission in Kabul, Afghanistan, within the framework of the growth of contribution of our country and the addition of Albanian troops to this mission. The Minister assured them of a regular selection process, based entirely on merit and for which she received their confirmation. "It is very important for this to be a process that values the best, evaluating meritocracy and praising those people who are really prepared to go to peacekeeping missions because of course, you all understand that it is a responsibility exceedingly great that you take, not only to serve our country, but also to provide security where you are going to. That means, protect the others and protect yourself and you must be maximally prepared for the moment, and therefore I insist that these tests, this assessment moment be as open and transparent as possible, and each of you have to be aware of the evaluation you receive and the evaluation your companion receives. Only those who really deserve will be the ones that will go to the mission, and when I say merit, I mean the preparation for this day. And to make this environment more competitive and truly promote quality and professionalism, you must all be in competition with each other."
Later, Minister Xhaçka attended closely a part of the theoretical teaching program of the military, at the premises of one of the cabinets of this battalion.
The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces joined the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment "The Days of Trees" by planting trees in the yard of the "Shyqyri Lakra" High School in Berat and in the b3k areas in Poshnje.
