67 - Years of Air Force, Xhaçka: Next year new financial treatment for 8,000 military personnel




The Albanian Military Air Force celebrates today 67 years of its foundation. Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka during her speech at the special ceremony organized at the Air Force Command, considered as a priority of the time, reshaping this force in the framework of the reform of the Armed Forces.

"Under today's conditions, assessing the new security situation in the region and beyond, we have selected the best for our country by developing the Air Force and vehicles of dual mission: protecting sovereignty, what is more sublime, but also assistance to every Albanian in difficulty. Even in the last three years, our AF effectives have assisted in saving the lives of more than a thousand people in emergency cases," - declared Minister Xhaçka in her speech.

The Minister also spoke about the investment that will be made in regard to the installation of the Albanian Integrated Airspace Surveillance System for which Albania has started to work with one of the most prestigious military industry companies in the world.

"The collaboration for the installation of the Integrated Albanian Airspace Surveillance System, was set up with one of the most prestigious military industry companies in the world, and will it be another vital component not only for Albania's national security, but also for all partner countries in the North Atlantic Alliance," - said further the Defence Minister.

While talking about better financial treatment next year, Minister Xhaçka said: "Not only investments in technology, but also the professional treatment of our effectives are clearly defined objectives for the Armed Forces generally and for the Air Force particularly. In 2019, thanks to the engagement of the Prime Minister and the Albanian government, more than 8,000 military personnel will have better financial treatment and increased attention."


At the ceremony held at the Air Force Command, in Rinas, took part the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, military, former pilots and family of the martyrs.
Since its creation, in April 1951, 41 pilots lost their lives during the performance of their mission and were proclaimed Nation’s Martyrs.
