The first visit of an Albanian Defence Minister in Israel, Xhaçka: Ready for cooperation in the field of Security and Defence

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka held a two-day official visit to Israel, the first one held by an Albanian Defence Minister to this country.

In Tel Aviv, Minister Xhaçka was welcomed by the Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman on an official ceremony.

At the meeting with the Israeli counterpart, Minister Xhaçka considered the political relations between Albania and Israel as of particular importance.

On his part, Minister Lieberman praised Albania's role in ensuring peace and security in the Western Balkans and said that the two countries share the same values as strategic Allies for security in the region.

Minister Xhaçka described Israel as a valuable NATO ally in the fight against terrorism and voiced our country's readiness for a memorandum of cooperation in the field of Security and Defense between the two countries.

Minister Xhaçka invited her Israeli counterpart for co-operation with institutions on security and defense and the NATO Excellence Center for Study of the Phenomenon of Foreign Terrorist Fighters.

The topic of the meeting between the two senior officials was cyber security, military industry, and a near project about the exchange of models and curricula in the field of military education and training.

The Defense Minister also met with officials from the International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT).

In Jerusalem, Minister Xhaçka held meetings at the National Security Council and paid homage and placed a wreath of flowers at YadVashem, the Memorial in honor of Holocaust Victims.
