Speech release of Minister Xhaçka:

I believe, we all agree that the Armed Forces have become an important contributor to many aspects of our country’s life. The presence of the green uniforms in community assistance has become more common and is more welcomed.

Our country is experiencing an increment of tourist’s flux, and as it has become a tradition in these past years that with the opening of the summer tourist season, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces are committed to doing their best.

The MoD and AAF have taken the necessary measures to make the tourists flux accessible to all available capacities, providing them with facilities to visit tourist parks in areas under the administration of the Armed Forces.

For this purpose, we are cooperating with all the other central and local state structures with which AAF co-manage these parks. In addition to these measures, we, as Armed Forces, will offer security during the tourist season through the available facilities we have at our disposal.

Thus, the MoD as the structure responsible for Civil Emergencies, with the operational structures of the Armed Forces will be present to respond to seasonal Civil Emergencies, such as the massive fires in forests. For this, we have an immediate response ready at any time successful intervention by Land Force troops, as well as air intervention by the Air Force helicopters.

To successfully cope with this, we are working closely with the responsible structures in the municipalities and prefectures to coordinate the measures and to raise awareness of the population about the risk of fires.

In the interest of the security of local and foreign tourists, there are our mountain and sea search and rescue facilities that will be offer to assist law enforcement in case of accidents.

Also, the FA provides medical air evacuation to meet the needs that may arise. Once again, the MoD considers the tourist season as an important task in terms of economic, security and image of our country and for this purpose is fully prepared to take responsibility and to cooperate with all involved actors.
