"ADRION LIVEX", a regional exercise on the implementation of legality at sea

300 effectives and 6 ships from ADRION countries (Adriatic Ionian Initiative) took part in the ADRION LIVEX-CAX 2018 (Live Assisted Exercise Exercise) exercise, which took place from 3 to 13 June in the maritime space of Albania , from Cape of Rodoni, to the Cape of Kavadon in the south (Porto Palermo).

The "ADRION LIVEX" exercise, which is held every year, aims at fostering mutual cooperation and understanding as well as increasing interoperability between ADRION's naval forces through scenarios related to maritime security in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.

In addition, the training focused on crews' training on procedures related to maritime law enforcement operations, search and rescue operations, tactical maneuvering and training of boarding groups with the assistance of experts from the NATO Training Center (The Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center (NMIOTC) and the 6th American Fleet Experts.

The effectives of the ships of ADRION countries were also trained at the Armed Forces Simulation Center for testing the procedures and standards used during the 4 days of the second training stage in the Bay of Vlora.

On the day of the distinguished visitors of this exercise, the engaged practitioners were greeted by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollcaku, commanders of the forces as well as the military attaches of the participating countries.

In the training, Albania participated with 2 Illyria ships and one Air Force helicopter, while Italy, Greece, Croatia and Montenegro with one ship respectively. Slovenia and the 6th US Fleet participated with staff officers.

The Adriatic Sea and Ionian Sea Initiative was established in 2006 and, for 12 years, has been conducting regional training in member countries with a rotation system.
