The consequences of the earthquake, Civil Emergency Services on duty

An inspection team from the General Directorate of Civil Emergencies, headed by its General Director, Mr. Haki Çako inspected yesterday some of the villages of Mat, Dibër District since it was struck by an earthquake on 11th May followed by some aftershocks in Dibër District and in other districts of our country.
The General Directorate of Civil Emergencies carried out the inspection of buildings, dwellings in some of the most affected villages by this disaster in order to provide assistance by the state institutions, in particular the temporary need for tents supply, also they have meetings with heads of local government for the evaluation of the situation, measures taken, technical assistance for the personnel engaged in the process of finding and assessing the earthquake damages in the area.
At the meeting with Nexhmedin Shehu, prefect of Dibër, was discussed about the situation created by the earthquake, the damaged houses, the problems created and the measures taken by the local government.
The main request of the Director General of Civil Emergencies was to carry out the process of finding and assessing the damages by the respective working groups.
The most affected area was that of the Derjan Administrative Unit, in which 31 houses were damaged, as well as in the Macukull Administrative Unit where 4 houses were damaged. For this reason, the inspection team carried out inspections in these administrative units.
From the field inspection resulted that some houses were seriously damaged. Because of the risk of housing collapse and for security reasons they slept outside, so there was an urgent need for the tents supply to these families. For this reason, legal procedures were carried out by the Prefect of Dibra by cooperating with the General Directorate of Civil Emergencies, and made it possible to send 7 tents to the families, based on the preliminary assessment.
In total, in Klos municipality, there were cracks in the plaster and walls in 36 houses. In Mat Municipality, there were cracks in the walls, plasters and ceilings in 53 houses. In Bulqiza Municipality, there were damages and cracks in the wall in 47 houses. In Mirdita Municipality, there were damages in 4 dwellings.
