1st Infantry Battalion effectives extinguish the fire on Tarabosh Mountain

After more than 16 hours, the effectives of the 1st Infantry Battalion of the Land Force in Vau i Dejës managed to extinguish the fire on the slopes of Tarabosh Mountain, near Zues village of the administrative district Rrethina, in the municipality of Shkodra.

The troops and the vehicles of the Vau i Dejës Battalion immediately were set in motion upon the request of the local government and the order issued from the Joint Operations Center of the Armed Forces.

The access to the fire site from the side of the firefighter’s vehicles was impossible because of the rough terrain and as a result the 1st Infantry Battalion troops had to walk for almost 7km in the dark and in a mountainous terrain to approach the flames.

Despite the intervention of military troops, the fire burnt a space of forests and pastures.

In this operation, the 1st IB personnel were equipped with backpacks that have specifically been designed fires in such terrains.
