The Romanian Parliament applauses Minister Xhaçka: Albania, a factor of stability in the region

The Romanian Parliament applauds Albania and appreciates its role as a factor of stability throughout the Western Balkans region.
Invited by her Romanian counterpart, Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka paid an official visit to Romania where she was received at a special meeting by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, Defence Minister Mihai Fifor, representatives of Romania's National Security and Defence Commission, while attending the plenary session of the Romanian Parliament.



In the meetings held with the Romanian PM and the Defence Minister, Minister Xhaçka was congratulated on the progress of the reforms and the constructive role that Albania plays in the region.

Ministers Xhaçka and Fifor expressed the common will to intensify mutual relations in a number of important Defence projects such as medical projects, training of special forces or cooperation between respective Naval Forces.



Describing the relations between the two countries as excellent, Minister Xhaçka appreciated the continued support that Romania has given to Albania at certain moments of its history. "105 years ago Romania was the first country to recognize Albania's independence and the invitation for Albania to become a full member of NATO was made in Romania. I am sure we will have good news from Romania next year when Romania takes over the rotating EU Presidency" , - said Minister Xhaçka during the meeting.

Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and Defence Minister Fifor assured Minister Xhaçka that Romania will be a strong advocate and strong support for Albania's membership in the European Union.
Minister Xhaçka was accompanied in these meetings by the Ambassador of Albania in Romania, Ilir Tepelena.
